RTDs

RTDs are temperature sensors that contain a sensing element whose resistance changes with temperatute. theses sensors are often place so they cn be in a position in the process where it can reach the same temperature. Platinum wire or film RTDs are the most common type in use today. Platinum RTDs are used to measure temperatures from -400oF to 1550oF. Due to higher accuracy and repeatability RTDs are slowly replacing the use of thermocouples in many industrial applications below 1200oF
